TYPES OF THERAPY
-
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is primarily used to treat trauma. Through EMDR, you can reprocess traumatic memories that have become “stuck,” or maladaptively stored in your brain. This reduces the emotional intensity of these memories, allowing you to function normally again.
Together, we’ll discuss your memories and decide on a goal. Then, you’ll focus on the memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation. This can involve tracking hand movements with your eyes, tapping, or listening to alternate tones in headphones.
Research shows that EMDR can lead to significant reductions in distressing symptoms, allowing you to regain a sense of control and well-being.
-
CBT stands for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. CBT can help you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their emotional and psychological difficulties. CBT is based on the premise that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and that changing one can lead to changes in the others.
-
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy incorporates principles and practices of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness. Mindfulness itself is a mental practice that involves being fully present and aware of one's thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment without judgment. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy aims to help you develop and cultivate mindfulness skills to reduce psychological distress, enhance well-being, and manage various mental conditions.

Adolescent Therapy
Supporting adolescents and young adults through individual therapy is my passion.
I began my career in school counseling and have worked with kids for over twenty years. I truly love the adolescent stage and the joy and genuineness of kids. It’s an honor to walk beside young people as they navigate the stressors of adolescence and learn the skills to cope with challenging emotions and experiences.
Counseling for adults
You may be feeling stuck, working to get out of unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. It feels like you can’t turn off your brain and stop worrying so you’re trapped in a constant state of panic and dread. You may feel lonely, exhausted and hopeless. Maybe you’ve been told you just need to “stop thinking about it” but you don’t know how.
I want to help! Through individual counseling, we can work to identify and express thoughts and emotions, identify negative thought patterns, build self-confidence, work through challenging experiences both past and present, discover and implement new coping skills, and more.
